At St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, we are committed to nourishing the whole child, mind, body and soul. Nurturing children’s emotional wellbeing, resilience, and positive mental health is our key priority. We believe every child has the right to feel safe, valued, and supported.
As a school, we have prioritised a Wellbeing and Inclusion Offer which aims to:
· -create a safe, inclusive environment where wellbeing is prioritised.
· - identify and respond to wellbeing needs early.
· -provide a graduated response to need, ensuring appropriate support.
· -work in partnership with families and external agencies.
Our wellbeing offer also provides targeted, supportive interventions for children who may benefit from additional help with their emotional wellbeing - these sessions will be used thoughtfully and appropriately to support children’s individual needs. Interventions will be carefully selected and delivered by trained members of school staff in smaller groups or 1:1 sessions.
Targeted interventions include:
· Thrive a therapeutic approach that supports children’s social and emotional development, helping them to understand their feelings and develop coping skills.
· Lego®‑Based Play Therapy a structured, small‑group intervention that supports communication, teamwork, problem‑solving and social interaction.
· Drawing and Talking Therapy a gentle, child‑centred intervention that allows children to express and process emotions through drawing and discussion.
· ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) a programme to help children develop emotional awareness, resilience and strategies to manage feelings.
· Rainbows a structured support programme that helps children and young people understand and cope with bereavement, loss, or significant change through guided discussion and activities.
· Small group interventions or individual support with Alliance, including positive friendship groups, resilience support.
· 1:1 school based therapeutic counselling delivered by our specially trained counsellor (Lisa) from The Bungalow Project each Thursday.
· Daisy from Future Steps, works in school each Wednesday, she provides assessments to identify sensory and emotional regulation needs, providing tailored programmes to support regulation.
