Throughout the year, the school actively supports a wide range of local, national and international charities, enabling pupils to live out Catholic Social Teaching through meaningful action. Our Mini Vinnies, Chaplains and Community Crew play a key leadership role in planning, organising and carrying out many of these charitable events, helping pupils to develop compassion, responsibility and a strong sense of service to others. These activities include:

  • CAFOD Walk for Water
  • Harvest collections for the local food bank
  • The Poppy Appeal – Remembrance support
  • Macmillan Coffee Morning
  • Rudolph Run in support of the local hospice
  • Easter Coffee Morning, welcoming local care home residents

In addition to this wider charitable work, St Joseph’s is particularly committed to supporting causes that directly affect members of our own school community, ensuring that our approach is sensitive, meaningful and purposeful. Through carefully planned awareness‑raising activities, opportunities for discussion and reflection, pupils learn the importance of standing alongside others in times of challenge. These experiences enable pupils to live out Catholic Social Teaching by showing empathy, justice and practical love in action. These awareness‑raising activities include:

  • Blue Monday fundraising for the Headlight Project
  • MND fundraising in support of a local headteacher
  • Wear it Pink, in support of staff affected by breast cancer
  • Neurofibromatosis (NF) Awareness Day, supporting children within our own school community
  • Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Day
