Year 5 pupils from St Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Billingham have been enjoying a memorable retreat experience centred on the theme "Go Beyond."
The retreat has provided children with an opportunity to reflect on their faith, strengthen friendships and explore their God-given gifts and talents through a range of engaging activities.
Settling In and Reflecting on Those Who Support Us
After arriving safely and enjoying tea together, pupils quickly settled into retreat life and began exploring the theme of the weekend.
Children spent time reflecting on the special people in their lives who love, encourage and support them, leading to thoughtful discussions and meaningful conversations.
The evening also included opportunities to relax with friends, enjoy treats and create lasting memories before settling down for the night.
Discovering God-Given Gifts and Talents
The following morning began with breakfast together, followed by pupils helping with the clean-up, demonstrating excellent teamwork and responsibility.
Activities included a treasure hunt designed to help children reflect on their identity as individuals loved by God, while recognising the unique gifts and talents they have been given.
Creative Reflection and Faith Development
Pupils also took part in an art workshop linked to the retreat theme, considering the question: "What do we offer God today?"
The children produced thoughtful and inspiring work as they reflected on how they can use their gifts to serve others and grow in their faith.
Walking with Jesus
Following lunch, pupils prepared for an outdoor walk focusing on God's presence in creation.
As they explored the outdoors, children reflected on how Jesus walks alongside them each day, can be found in their conversations and friendships, and is present in the beauty of the world around them.
A Wonderful Retreat Experience
Staff have been incredibly proud of how well Year 5 have embraced every aspect of the retreat.
The experience has been filled with faith, friendship, reflection and fun, providing pupils with valuable opportunities to grow spiritually while creating special memories together.
